Are you a traveling foodie? Do you just really enjoy a good typical meal in the place you're visiting? You can't go wrong with the food in Costa Rica! It's all good, it's all filling, and so far I haven't been disappointed once. You don't even have to walk far from the hostel to enjoy an amazing meal. If this is your first stop in Costa Rica, it's great to know that a "Soda" is a small, inexpensive restaurant, serving typical meals that are always to die for!
Our first stop, right behind the hostel is Soda Mima.

Amazing service, a price that can't be beat, and wonderful food, this is one you'll keep going back to during your stay, guaranteed! My personal favorite is their Tipico breakfast. A typical Costa Rican breakfast featuring gallo pinto, eggs, plantains, fried cheese, and coffee for only $5 USD!

Soda Mima also serves lunch and dinner, and it's all wonderful.
Our next stop takes us right next door to Al Paseo Ricas Pupusas.

This is the perfect stop for a quick lunch, dinner, or snack. With filling portion sizes and friendly service, I tend to eat here pretty often! It also helps that pupusas are one of my favorite foods in the entire world. A traditional dish that comes from El Salvador, pupusas are a thick corn tortilla stuffed with a savory filling, served with curtido and tomato salsa. If you've never tried one you need to! Another dish that I reccommend here would be the rico maduro, a fried plantain topped with refried beans, cheese, and cream- a perfect snack!

Fast, friendly service and delicious meals as well as fruit drinks.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner you can't miss this place on your visit to La Fortuna! My favorite thing to get here is their fresh papaya blended with water or milk into a creaming, icy, refreshing drink! This is also a perfect place to try a casado, a typical Costa Rican meal consisting of rice, black beans, plantains, salad, tortillas, and meat of your choosing, a perfect meal after a long day of tours and hiking!

Our last stop for this post will bring us a little further down the street, to Lava Lounge.

Lava Lounge has a restaurant area as well as a bar, and on the weekends you may find live music being played inside! Serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as wonderful mixed drinks from the bar, everyone is sure to find something they love here. You may even have a chance to dine with one of their cats like I did, hoping down from the rafters and joining me on the other seat at the table. If you're looking for a great, filling breakfast you defiantly have to try their breakfast burrito, filled with gallo pinto, egg, cheese, bacon, avacado, and salsa you won't be left hungry after this meal! And a blended mocha goes perfectly with it!
